June 7th Order of Service
Dear Member of St. Paul’s This weekend, the church observes Trinity Sunday. Already in Genesis, when God is ready to create man as the crown of His creation, He says, “Let us make man in our own image.” We call that the Divine Plural. From before the very first moment of time, God existed as three persons yet one eternal being. God the Father gives us life. God the Son purchased for us eternal life. God the Holy Spirit gives us spiritual life through the gift of saving faith. And so we rejoice today and always in our gracious God’s goodness for us! Today, the 10:45 service will be live streamed. Church Service Info. for May 2 & 3
First off: This coming weekend’s Order of Service is available as a .PDF file for download here: 2020-05-03.Easter4Download Dear Member or Friend of St. Paul’s, Psalm 23 begins, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” How true that is! With the Lord guiding us, we shall never “want” for anything. True, the sinful nature all too often drives our desires in a different direction that seems to never be satisfied. But the nature controlled by the Spirit, is at peace and content under the Good Shepherd’s care. In John chapter 10, Jesus fills out the image from Psalm 23 with even greater detail. He claims for Himself that title of Shepherd. He tells us how much He knows us and the “sheep” of His pasture “listen to” Him. But here’s the really good part. This Shepherd “lays down His life for the sheep!” The sacrificial Good Shepherd literally buys us back from the power of sin, the control of Satan and yes, even eternal death itself. The faith that God gives and nurtures through His Word and Holy Supper truly connects us to the best Shepherd of all. Be at peace in His care as we all wait to get back to normal in the world around us! With Easter behind us, we are back to our regular “Covid” worship schedule. Small group service times are Saturdays at 5:30PM; and Sundays at 8:15, 9:30, and 10:45AM. St. Paul’s Service Info. for April 25 & 26, 2020
First off, this weekend’s Order of Service is available for download here:. St. Paul’s Order of Service for April 25, 26 Easter3Download Dear Member or Friend of St. Paul’s, This weekend is the third Sunday of Easter. After appearing to the women on Easter morning, Jesus makes an afternoon appearance to two disciples (followers) of Jesus. These men are very sad as they return to their village of Emmaus. Their teacher has been crucified and their world has collapsed around them. Soon, Jesus, comes alongside them on their journey home. He prevents them from recognizing them right away so that He would have the chance to teach them how God’s Word spoke of a suffering and dying servant Messiah. The hearts of these disciples began to burn in them as they heard the unfolding of God’s plan in the Word that Jesus presented. Finally, in one of the disciple’s homes, Jesus was recognized in the blessing and breaking of bread. What saddens you? Is it sitting on the sidelines while your place of work struggles to stay afloat? Are you fearful for your own health or the health of a loved one with some underlying condition that makes that person especially vulnerable to the virus? Maybe you are one of those beginning to get bored with the lock-down? Or, are you fearful that we are losing more of our guaranteed freedoms in exchange for greater government control? Reactions today vary greatly. But the thread of sadness seems common to all of them. Here we are like those Emmaus disciples. We have more questions and pain than answers. And yet, our Savior Jesus still comes alongside us in our day. He comes to us in His holy Word and promises to answer part of the why question, by reminding us of the fall into sin. This world is tainted and corrupt and once in a while produces scary things like a virus. No one is being punished. Bad is simply a part of this fallen world. But then God’s law, that shows us the fall and our need for help, prepares us for the Gospel and God’s answer for our need. The Emmaus disciples were sad because Jesus had died. They didn’t yet understand what we thankfully know. That Jesus came to die in order to pay for all sin. He died to purchase forgiveness and rose from the dead to provide a glorious future for us and for this world that still groans under the weight of sin. God’s Old Testament promises all pointed to Jesus as the One who came to save us. Here is a portion of one of those promises from Isaiah 53. (By the way, I am pretty sure that this is one of the teachings Jesus shared with those disciples to open their eyes of faith!) Isaiah promised: “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows…. But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that BROUGHT US PEACE, and with His stripes WE ARE HEALED!” The greatest peace and healing we need is not from anything physical or financial. We needed healing for our souls in the peace Jesus makes possible between us and our God. As you wend your way through your life’s journey, remember that Jesus has promised “to be with you always, even to the end of the age.” Read and hear often His word of instruction and like those Emmaus disciples, rejoice in knowing that Jesus lives—He lives for you. With Easter behind us, we are back to our regular “Covid” worship schedule. Small group service times are Saturdays at 5:30PM; and Sundays at 8:15, 9:30, and 10:45AM. The link to Sign-up for church is here: Live services are streamed from the church Facebook page. Past Services remain on that page for viewing at any time. April 18-19 Services
First off, this week’s Order of Service can be downloaded here: Second Sunday of Easter Service .PDFDownload “He is risen!” “He is risen indeed! Alleluia!” Thankfully we were able to share that wonderful Easter acclamation with 60 in person worshippers this past Easter Sunday. But the amazing news is that the two live-streamed services on Facebook, together have had over a thousand views! I understand that not all of those viewing, watched the whole service. But they did see how our congregation is attempting to still serve the public witness of the Gospel in this new way! While this form of offering the Divine Service is far from what we would all rather be doing, it is still the best we can do to bring God’s Word to members and others. We pray for and look forward to the time that we can again gather together in God’s House as the body of Christ, which is by far the best! With Easter behind us, we are back to our regular “Covid” worship schedule. Small group service times are Saturdays at 5:30PM; and Sundays at 8:15, 9:30, and 10:45AM. The link to Sign-up for church is: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/904084BACA62EA3FE3-service1 Live services are posted on the church Facebook page: http://Facebook.com/stpaulslutheransheboygan Past Services remain on that page for viewing at any time. Easter Updates He Is Risen!
“He is risen!” “He is risen indeed! Alleluia!” That enthusiastic Easter acclamation is happening again tomorrow, Easter Sunday. The few in church will be joined by the many at home in celebration of the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The great news is that Covid Can’t Cancel Easter! Jesus lives in the flesh in His personal union as both God and man. Absolutely nothing can interrupt or change that truth for each one of us. So celebrate tomorrow with the Easter Acclamation with one another wherever or however you are arranged. Phone it, “Facetime” it, “Duo” it, or respond while watching the live stream! “He is risen!” ……………! Two of St. Paul’s “small group” Easter services will be live-streamed tomorrow. The 7am service and the 9:30am service. Pastor K will preach early and Pastor Matt will preach the for the 9:30 service. Both are streamed because some of you like participating right along with your fellow members at church. Of course, both services will remain on facebook for viewing at any time. The address again is: http://facebook.com/stpaulslutheransheboygan The PDF Easter order of service is down below. I am not able to post the order of service on Facebook as in the past. I missed the note from our Publishing house saying “no social media posting.” However, it is OK to post our services on the church’s website: https://stpaulsheboygan.org I mention that in case you know of others who might like the service in print. Lord’s continued blessings to you and yours in this different mode of celebration! Finally, there are still some time slots available for the services at church. Music
Music is an important part of worship. The music of the church is used to prepare the hearts of the people for the ministry of God’s word as well as beautify the service. You can be an integral part of the presentation of the Gospel to others by being a part of our music program. When you do this, you allow God to speak through you to those who seek His presence. The Adult Choir generally rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm. from September through May. Additional practices or schedule changes are printed in the weekly bulletin or calendar in the monthly Parish News. Adult Hand Bell Choir – This is yet another opportunity for adults to participate in the sharing of their talents to God’s glory. Rehearsals generally take place on Thursday evenings from 6:15 to 7:00 pm September through May. The children are also given several opportunities to praise their Lord through the ministry of music. Within our Christian Day School the following choirs are offered: Cherub Choir – Children of the 4-year-old Kindergarten through the 3rd grade under the direction of Miss Anna Bierce. Alleluia Choir – Children of the 4th – 8th grades make up this choir, under the direction of Mrs. Wendy Kretschmar. Instrumentalists and people willing to sing solos are always a blessing to a congregation. If you are such an individual, a word to the music director would be greatly appreciated and beneficial to the life of our church.
