Microwave Policy

There will be 3 microwaves in the lunch room during lunch. K-2nd grade should have adult supervision. Please adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Time limit for lunches must be 2 minutes or less. (Tell your child how long to heat their food.)
2. Leftovers brought from home must stay cool in a lunch bag, not the fridge.
3. Food should be brought in a microwave container. No can openers allowed.
4. Upper graders will use the microwaves in the order in which they come down for lunch.
5. Lunch order will rotate every day.
6. If the student’s lunch explodes, they must clean up the mess.
7. Regular microwave procedure should be remembered. NO FOIL!! We will have paper towels which can be used to cover food.
8. Anyone who takes advantage of the situation or does not follow the rules will not be able to use the microwaves. An example: My lunch takes 3.5 minutes! Just this once? Sorry, your 3.5 minutes might prevent someone else from eating!
9. Please help your children make healthy choices in eating. What they put into their tummies directly affects how they learn during the day.
